| Department of Religious Affairs

The Ministry of Religious Affairs was established in
order to function various affairs of Sasana even during the period not before
gaining the Independence of the Union of Myanmar . According to implementation

Propagation of Sasana

According to the new administration scheme (15-3-72),
the Ministry of Home and Religious Affairs strived for prevalence of law and
order , community peace and tranquillity, admin-stration, security, religious
affairs, with the participation of unit departments including the Religious
Affairs Department.

The Ministry of Home and Religious Affairs established
a religious and philosophical research centre under the name of World Buddhist
Centre on May 11, 1955 with the aim of preserving Myanmar culture that is based
on the Teachings of the Buddha (Buddha Dhamma), promoting and propagating the
Buddha's Teachings on a world-wide scale as well as making the teachings
accessible to the rest of the world.
